As I have mentioned previously, Sophie keeps us in fits of laughter with the hilarious “Sophieisms” she comes out with. My wise Mother tells me to write them down, which I have the best of intentions to do, but naturally, I get sidetracked and forget. Slack! So here are a few that I can recall from our mini family holiday...
I made ravioli for dinner on our first night there, a quick and easy option. As far as Soph was concerned, when I said we were having ravioli, she thought we were having someone called “Gary Olie” over for dinner.
There is a song featured in the kids movie “Hop” called I want Candy. It took me a moment to work out why Sophie was dancing around the unit singing “I want your kindy”. Turns out that is her interpretation of the lyrics.
By the beach, Sophie was singing “Don’t tell me, this is how it dies”. Puzzled, I eventually realised she was singing her unique version of “Don’t tell me, this is paradise”.
Upon returning from our holiday, I got a few things from the supermarket. Driving home, I realised I had forgotten the bread. Sophie then tells me “You’re so slack Mum”. “What?! Why???” I asked. “Because you forgot the bread. So slack”.
Sophie - “Mummy, why’d Daddy have a-said-to-me?”
Me – “Pardon Soph? What do you mean?”
Sophie – Frustrated “A-said-to-me!”
Me – ‘Sorry, babe, I don’t know what you mean?”
Sophie – Increasingly frustrated “A-said-to-me!” You know, the up-a-tation on his tummy!”
Me – “Oh, you mean the vasectomy! The operation on his tummy!”
Sophie – Exasperated with my apparent idiocy, “Yes” sighs and shakes her head.
Out of the mouths of babes!
